st years will be fully integrated in four class groups. All first years will do a taster of all optional subjects for eight weeks in September and October. In accordance with the new Junior Cycle they will also be given 300 hours of Wellbeing over their years in Junior Cycle.
nd years will be fully integrated as co-education groups. They will continue to study their subject choices as selected in first year.
rd years will remain in the same class groups as this year. The boys and girls will, insofar as possible, retain their same teachers as this year. This is to ensure continuity in their examination year and is regarded as standard procedure for amalgamated schools. Non-exam subjects will be co-educational to allow for some integration of the boys and girls.
Transition years will be following a new programme designed by our Transition Year Team. This will involve cores subjects, subject sampling of all leaving cert subjects, modules of others areas of TY, plus the once-off events including TY, Musical, Language Trips and Gaisce.
th years will also be fully integrated. They have already chosen their subject options from the wide range of subjects available. Coláiste Chiaráin will have the widest range of subjects available for students to choose from at both Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert.
th years will remain in the same class groups as this year. The boys and girls will, insofar as possible, retain their same teachers as this year. This is to ensure continuity in their examination year and is the standard process for amalgamated schools. Non-exam subjects will be co-educational to allow for some integration of the boys and girls.
